How to Identify Bass

white bass
White Bass: Stripes are not dark e.g. stripes often faint, first stripe below lateral line is very faint and not complete - top fins not connected as much as yellow -


Yellow Bass
Yellowbass: Stripes very distinct but obviously broken above anal fin - Color - silvery or silvery yellow (at times) - dorsal fins joined


Hybride Bass
Hydrid: stripes distinct, usually broken in places, several extend to tail


Striped Bass
Striper: stripes distinct, several extend to tail


Large Mouth Bass
Large Mouth: Definite lateral stripe - jaw extends pass the back margin of the eye when mouth closed


Spotted Bass Kentucky Bass
Spotted / Kentucky Bass: Jaw does not extend beyond the eyeball and the horizontal dark strip will not be as defined i.e. probably irregular or broken.


Small Mouth Bass
Small Mouth: some vertical barring along the sides - jaw does not extend beyond the back margin of the eye when mouth is closed
